Required that executive and senior leaders complete program within first year of employment at BSHSI

Optional for all others with recommendation of supervisor

Description

Integrated, interactive presentations and activities that address key areas of ministry leadership with information, experiential opportunities, dialogue, reflection and other resources for learning. The presenters focus on the “real world” impact of the theological, ethical and sponsorship concepts addressed.

Objectives

Upon program completion participants will be able to:

  • Describe the roots of Catholic healthcare
  • Articulate relationships among Church, Sponsor and organization
  • Relate one’s personal values to his or her organizational commitment
  • For selected ethical issues, explain Church teaching as presented in the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services
  • Identify one’s approach to ethical decision-making
  • Apply the professional values and obligations associated with the role of leadership in healthcare – and the fundamental social values underlying Catholic healthcare services – to management issues

Length

Two-day program offered 3-6 times yearly with collaborative partners under the auspices of the Catholic Health Association
